TRAVEL TIPS

For Your Next Adventure

IMG_3540.jpg

Traveling with a little one often means juggling the logistics of breastfeeding on the road. As a breastfeeding mama, I know how challenging it can be to keep up your milk supply while in transit. But with a little planning, you can absolutely make it work!

Here are my top tips for pumping breast milk while traveling:

💼 Pack all your pumping gear in your carry-on, never check it! Having your pump, bottles, and cooler bag with you at all times means you're always ready to pump.

🧊 Invest in a good portable cooler preferably that is attached to your pump bag. At your hotel make sure there is a mini fridge to properly store your milk.

📆 Map out your pumping schedule ahead of time and build it into your itinerary. Set reminders so you don't miss a session.

🚽 Scope out private, clean places to pump at the airport, on the plane, or in your hotel. Airplane bathrooms can work in a pinch.

🤱 Don't be afraid to ask flight attendants or hotel staff for help finding a quiet space to pump. Most are very accommodating.

The key is being prepared and flexible. Pumping on the go takes some extra effort, but it's so worth it to maintain your breastfeeding journey. You've got this, mama!

You might think I'm crazy, but those first few months can actually be an ideal time for some baby travel! We took our first trip with Sofia at 2 months old, and it was surprisingly smooth sailing.
Here's why hitting the road with a newborn is easier than you might think:
🤱 Feeding is still a breeze

At this age, babies are either breastfeeding or taking a bottle - no need to pack jars of solids or worry about picky eating yet. Feeding on-the-go is simple!
😴 Sleeping is easier

Little newborns sleep SO much of the day, especially when being worn or strolled. Which makes long travel days, time changes, and new environments less disruptive.
🛍 They're portable!

At just a few pounds, infants are delightfully transportable. No hauling bulky gear like high chairs, bouncers, etc. Your diaper bag has all you need.
⬆️ Unpredictable schedules

While routine is crucial for older babies, newborns haven't locked into a rigid sleep/eat pattern yet. You can just go with the flow more seamlessly.
Of course, every baby is different! But those first few months before major milestones can be a sweet spot for some families. We made amazing memories.
Share this with any new parent to give them the confidence to travel with their baby.

**Travel Prep: The Baby Edition 👶✈️**
Getting ready to hit the road with your little one? As baby travelers, we've got some tips on what to do (and not do!) to prep for a smooth trip. After lots of trial and error, these are the things that make exploring with an infant SO much easier!
DO's:✅ Request a crib for your hotel room far in advance. Many hotels have limited cribs, so book early!
✅ Order any baby items you'll need (diapers, wipes, formula, etc.) ahead of time for pickup or delivery at your destination.
✅ Call your airline and reserve a bassinet for long flights if your LO still fits. Those flat surfaces are a lifesaver.
✅ Pack multiple outfit changes, extra ziplock bags for messes, and a travel case full of medicine, etc.
DON'TS:🚫 Don't prebook reservations anywhere that won't easily accommodate a baby. Go with the flow instead!
🚫Don't over-schedule your days. Build in downtime, naps, and fussy baby buffers.
🚫Don't forget to buy travel insurance in case you need to cancel/rebook due to sickness or delays!
🚫Don't bring your baby's most prized stuff toy or comfort item. Too risky to lose it!
The key is balancing preparation with flexibility. Ask any parent - bringing a baby adds unknowns to any itinerary! But a little foresight can prevent headaches.

**3 Hotel Must-Haves When Traveling with Baby 👶✨**
Planning that first trip after having a little one? As you're sorting through hotels, there are a few key amenities that can make or break your stay when you've got an infant in tow.
Here are the 3 things I always check for when booking a baby-friendly hotel:
🛌 Crib

Not having to haul a pack and play with you while flying or even on a roadtrip is important! That way you can save space for other important things like extra clothes in case of any blowouts!
🍼 In-Room Fridge & Microwave

Keeping bottles cold and prepping simple baby meals is crucial. Having that mini-fridge and microwave right in your room takes the hassle out of feedings.
🧇 Breakfast Buffet

This will simplify your life by not having to find a restaurant to eat in the morning. A breakfast buffet also means a variety of foods so your little one can try different things.
What baby amenities do you look for when booking hotels?

🌎 Stamping That First Passport: A Baby’s Ticket to Adventure! 🗺️
Deciding to take your tiny globetrotter along for the jet-setting ride? One of the first must-dos is securing their very own baby passport. While it may seem daunting, the process is actually pretty straightforward! Here’s a step-by-step guide to check this important item off your travel checklist:
1. Gather Documents 📑You’ll need your little one’s birth certificate, parental IDs, passport photos, and the completed application with fees. Many local post offices offer baby passport photo services.
2. Schedule an Appointment 📅 Find a nearby acceptance facility like a post office to visit for passport processing. Appointments are generally required.
3. Apply in Person 🧑‍🤝‍🧑Both parents/guardians must be present unless you have a justification otherwise. Bring all documents and be prepared to submit passport photos.
4. Wait (Not-So) Patiently ⏳Routine processing can take 6-8 weeks, so don’t cut it too close to your travel dates! Expedited options are available for an extra fee.
5. Receive and Celebrate! 🎉Once that baby blue booklet arrives, secure their first stamp and get ready for an adventure! Their entire childhood of globetrotting officially begins.
The baby jet-set life awaits! Having a passport opens up a world of experiences for your little one from an early age.

🧭 The One Item That's Our Proven Baby Jet-Lag Cure 🧳
As parents who love globetrotting with our tiny nomad, we've got all the portable baby gear: lightweight stroller, cozy carrier...you name it. But there's one humble hero that NEVER gets left behind - Sofia's trusty crib sheet!
This simple, compact item is our secret weapon for helping baby adjust to new sleep environments and fight off jet lag like a pro. No matter if we're crashing in a hotel, rental home, or grandma's spare bedroom, having the familiar scent and coziness of her own sheet makes all the difference.
We'll toss the fitted sheet over any random crib or pack n' play to instantly create a comforting "nest" that signals sleep time for Sofia. That recognizable scent of home allows her to settle in seamlessly, avoiding the disrupted naps and night wakings that come with new surroundings.
Pro Tip: This crib sheet from home is also washed in your detergent so it creates a barrier for any smells or perfumes on the pack n’ play or crib that you are using.  🥰

As a breastfeeding mom who loves to travel, having the right pump has been crucial! After lots of research, I'm singing the praises of the Spectra S1 Plus. This compact little workhorse is perfect for mamas on the go.
Here's why the Spectra has been a gamechanger for pumping while traveling:
✨ It's ultra portable At only 3lbs, the S1 Plus slips easily into any tote or backpack without weighing you down. The streamlined design is perfect for pumping in airports, cars, hotels...anywhere!
⚡ Long battery lifeThis pump can run for up to 3 hours on a single charge. No need to hunt for outlets or bring extra battery packs. It's cord-free convenience.
🔇 Whisper quietThe S1's quiet motor lets you pump discreetly without drawing a bunch of attention in public places. Easy to use without disturbing baby too!
🌊 Adjustable suctionThis pump has a wide range of suction/cycle levels so you can adjust to your personal flow preference. It fully empties for maximum output.
